Acetal Machining
CNC Delrin Machining
Delrin is used for demanding products and parts such gears, medical delivery equipment, and other high-load mechanical applications.
In parts intended to replace metal, Delrin is the perfect material.
Delrin® acetal homopolymer provides better stiffness, tensile strength, creep and fatigue resistance, and noticeably higher impact resistance than acetal copolymer. In moulding with extreme precision, it provides great dimensional stability.

Machinability & Dimensional stability
Delrin is machinable plastic with excellent dimensional stability. IT is more likely to achive tight tolerances.
High stiffness & impact resistance
Delrin is a robust, high-strength material that is well-suited for high-stress applications.
Fatigue resistance
Delrin has good creep resistance, and it is suitable for long-lasting end products like automobile parts. It also offers good fatigue endurance.
Electrical insulator
Delrin is a common machining plastic in all indstris because of its electrical insulating properties.
Low friction & wear
Delrin has a high level of natural lubricity. It is therefore a good choice for low-friction part which contact with other plastic parts

Delrin AF (13% PTFE-Filled) has an excellent wear resistance, toughness, strength and dimensional stability, this material is often found in load bearing applications such as bushings, bearings, cams, thrust washers, gaskets and valve seats.
Glass-filled Delrin offers superior impact resistance and fatigue endurance. This material is commonly used for automotive applications, construction, fixturing, and gear manufacturing.
Delrin Machining

Delrin is widely regarded as one of the most machinable plastics. Precision machining Delrin plastic allows for the creation of complex, high-tolerance parts, with excellent mechanical properties, accuracy.

- Stay cool: Delrin is temperature sensitive above 120°C. Air-based coolants outperform liquid coolants and also speed up chip removal.
- Be sharp: When machining Delrin, sharp cutting tools with a high clearance angle will produce better results, and the use of cutting lubricant may also be beneficial.
- Not too tight:Delrin is not particularly rigid, so At all times, only light clamping forces should be used.
Design for Delrin Parts
When designing parts for Delrin machining, try to keep wall thicknesses consistent and include fillets and ribs where necessary. Large parts may be more susceptible to warping.

Applications of Delrin Plastics
- Automotive
- Electrical & Electronics
- Industrial
- Medical
The unique qualities makes Delrin broadly applicable to various industries in the medical, aerospace and energy sectors.
For example, you can machine Delrin for medical implants and instruments, or for industrial bearings, rollers, gears, and scraper blades. It is ideal for smaller applications at temperatures below 250 °F (121°C) and can have centerline porosity.
FAQs of Delrin Machining
Delrin can be used in cnc machining. It is a good plastic for applications that will experience lots of friction, require tight tolerances, or need a high stiffness material.
