FAQ about Casting silicone Mould

Casting Mould refers to the use of the original master prototype to make a silicone mold in a vacuum state, and use PU, transparent PU, POM-like, ABS materials for pouring in a vacuum state, thereby cloning the same copy of the original template . This technology greatly reduces the development cost, cycle and risk of the product due to its fast speed and low cost.

1. Fewer times of mold reversal

Too much silicone oil is added in the process of making silicone molds, and silicone oil destroys the molecular weight of the silicone, so the molds will have fewer reversals and less durable. If it is said that a small product with a more complex pattern is used to make molds with high-hardness silica gel, there will be fewer mold reversals, because the silica gel will be brittle and easy to break when it is too hard.

2. Mold burning occurs

Because unsaturated resins and resin products are added with peroxide curing agents, they will generate a lot of heat when they react with the resin. Generally, the curing time of the resin is 3 minutes, so the mold should be demolded as soon as possible after 3 minutes to prevent the silicone mold from being damaged. Produce burn-in phenomenon.

3. Dry outside, not dry inside

Mold silica gel is a condensation type silica gel, which is cured by absorbing moisture in the air. In the process of making silica gel, the water is evaporated to dryness without adding the right amount of water. This phenomenon will occur. . As long as when using silica gel, add an appropriate amount of 0.05% water and stir evenly to solve some problems.

4. The pulling force becomes worse

In the process of making the silicone mold, in order to reduce the viscosity of the silicone and make the silicone easy to handle, a large amount of silicone oil is added to the silicone, which will make the silicone become very soft, produce intolerance, reduce the tear strength, and change the tensile force. The phenomenon of poor, resulting in the mold is not durable, the service life is short, and the number of mold turning times is small. The mold silicone itself does not emit oil. The oil emission occurs because of the addition of compound silicone oil (a compound of silicone oil and white mineral oil) during the operation, because white mineral oil is a petrochemical product, not a silicone oil.

5. Not resistant to acid, alkali and aging

In the process of making silicone molds, it is best not to add any silicone oil. If necessary, the amount of silicone oil added should not exceed 5% to 10% at most. Because excessive addition of silicone oil will destroy the molecular weight of silica gel, the resulting mold will not be resistant to acids and alkalis, and not resistant to aging.

6. The surface of the mold is not smooth, with traces and streaks

This phenomenon occurs because the product or model to be copied is not polished or polished. Another situation is that when the release agent is applied, the mold is not smooth if it is not evenly applied.
